This specialisation was established in the academic year 2022/2023 in response to the market demand of Polish professional choral ensembles. It is a new and unique specialisation, launched in Poland for the first time. The basic premise is to educate a graduate ready to take up full-time employment in professional ensembles: philharmonic, radio, opera and chamber ensembles. The professional preparation of graduates will be a chance to catch up with the Western European countries in terms of the training of choristers. The introduction of studies in the specialisation of choral vocalism becomes necessary also in view of the need to educate specialists dealing with collective voice emission. Graduates of choral vocalism will also find work in academic choirs, cathedral choirs, school choirs or singing associations as voice emission instructors. In order to properly conduct the didactic process, a chamber choir ensemble has been established by the Rector of the UMFC, which will conduct regular concert and recording activities. The study programme includes parts of choral and vocal-instrumental works of all eras, including contemporary music. All students obtain pedagogical qualifications for teaching in arts education.
